Sri Lanka is an agricultural country and the agriculture is one of the main sources of gross domestic production (GDP) in Sri Lankan economy. The main plantations are tea, rubber, coconut and paddy. The hill country is well famous for superior quality vegetables and potato while the dry zone farmers grow low country vegetables, onion, serials and mainly paddy.
The government has introduced fertilizer subsidiaries to encourage paddy farmers but the other farmers don’t have that benefit. The farms rangers form one or two small plots of land to several hectares of fields of land. These farms are owned by both individual farmers and farming companies.
The prime objective behind this work is to prepare a directory of agricultural firms in Sri Lanka so that the local or foreign companies or any other organizations can locate them easily.
